Swimming, for example, might warrant the use of a high-quality swimsuit and swimming cap for high-level competition, but those shouldn’t make a big difference for basic safety. American football, on the other hand, is going to need serious gear constructed specifically for protection while playing the sport. Don’t skimp on your options, and also make sure to get every piece that you’ll need. For example, mouthguards can protect your teeth when playing a variety of contact sports.

Play the Game Right

Rules exist for a reason. You need to make sure that you are doing your part. Don’t ever push yourself to the point where you might hurt yourself or someone else because of excessive force. If equipment is something you need to worry about, don’t ever misuse the gear in question – even as a joke. It can be easy to get carried away if you’re not careful, even for adults! Always listen to your body. Don’t push yourself to the point where you could risk minor or serious injury just for the sake of the sport.


Remember, you and your family, friends, and teammates are valuable. Don’t risk injury just to save some money or to win a game. The possibilities of what might happen far outweigh any small advantage you might gain.
