Overview

What this service covers

Stationary bikes fail at the crank, the drive, and the resistance system. Cranks and pedals loosen and strip under heavy riders; drive belts and freewheels wear; magnetic and eddy-current resistance systems lose calibration or fail outright; and consoles on self-powered bikes stop when the generator or battery weakens.

Common exercise bike repairs

  • Resistance failure: resistance motor, brake magnet assembly, servo cable, or on spin bikes, brake pad and tension knob service.
  • Knocking or clicking at the crank: loose or stripped crank arms, worn bottom-bracket bearings, pedal bearings.
  • Drive belt or chain noise: worn belt, freewheel, or pulley; chain stretch on older spin bikes.
  • Console problems: dead display, no RPM or heart-rate reading, generator or battery failure on self-powered models.
  • Seat and handlebar adjustment failures: worn pop-pins, slide rails, and posts.
  • Wobble or instability: leveling feet, frame hardware, stabilizer bushings.

Spin and indoor cycle service

Studio bikes take the most abuse of any machine in a facility. Bearings, brake pads, belts, and pedal cleats need regular attention, and a bike-by-bike preventive maintenance rotation keeps a full studio in class-ready condition. Read our spin bike maintenance guide.

Questions about this service

Do you repair Peloton and other connected bikes?
Yes for mechanical issues: cranks, pedals, bearings, belts, resistance, and seat or handlebar hardware. Software and subscription issues go to the manufacturer.
Why does my bike click with every pedal stroke?
Most often a loose crank arm or a worn pedal or bottom-bracket bearing. Riding on a loose crank strips it quickly, so it is worth getting checked promptly.
Can you service a whole spin studio?
That is a common ServiceRX job. We rotate through every bike on a schedule so the studio never has more than a bike or two out at once.
Do you work on recumbent bikes for senior communities and PT clinics?
Yes. Recumbents in rehab and senior-living settings get calibrated resistance and safe, secure seat adjustment as part of every visit.
