How a fitness equipment repair visit works, and what it costs

Customers often ask what a repair visit costs and why a repair sometimes takes two visits. Here is exactly how a ServiceRX repair visit works, step by step, with our pricing.
Step 1: Tell us what is going on
Request service online or call 888-383-6371. Have this ready if you can:
- The brand and model (usually on a sticker near the base or under the motor cover)
- The serial number, if you can find it
- About how old the machine is, and whether it is still under warranty
- Whether it is at a home or a business
- What it is doing, or not doing. A short video or a photo of the model sticker speeds things up.
Under 3 years old? Check your manufacturer's warranty first. Only the manufacturer can approve a warranty claim, and covered repairs usually have to go through them.
Step 2: We schedule the visit
We confirm scheduling the same business day, Monday through Friday. Most repairs in our North Carolina and South Carolina service area are scheduled within 24 to 72 hours.
Step 3: The technician diagnoses and starts the repair
Every repair visit begins with a $175 trip charge. It covers travel within 30 miles of a scheduled route and the first hour of technician time on site. The technician uses that first hour to diagnose the machine and, where possible, make the repair. Diagnosis is paid work inside that first hour, not a free or separate service.
If the job runs past the first hour, additional labor is $95 per hour for commercial equipment and $50 per hour for residential in-home repair. Past 30 miles an additional travel cost applies, discounted for customers on a preventive maintenance plan.
Step 4: You approve the quote
Every repair is quoted after diagnosis and approved by you before repair work begins. No surprises.
Step 5: Finished, or parts ordered
If no parts are needed, the repair is usually finished during that visit. If the machine needs a part, such as a belt and deck, a motor, or a control board, we order the correct part for your model after diagnosis. When it arrives, we come back to install it. That return visit is a separate trip with its own trip charge.
Why some repairs take two visits
Treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes use thousands of different model-specific parts. Ordering the exact part after the technician has confirmed what failed is how we avoid replacing parts that did not need replacing. It also means you only pay for the part your machine actually needs.
Can the technician look at another machine?
Usually, yes. Mention it when you schedule so we plan enough time. Extra machines are quoted the same way, before any repair work begins.
What we do and do not do
- We repair commercial and home cardio and strength equipment, including treadmills, ellipticals, bikes, stepmills, rowers, and cable machines.
- We assemble equipment that is already in the room where it will be used. We do not move equipment.
- We serve parts of North Carolina and South Carolina only. See our service area.
- For commercial facilities, preventive maintenance plans keep equipment running between repairs. Preventive maintenance visits start at $175 and are quoted per customer, based on the equipment actually on your floor.
